Van Cleef was retained to provide design services for a new playground addition at Weona Park in Pen Argyl Borough. The project included the development of a comprehensive conceptual plan focused on creating an inclusive, accessible play environment for users of all abilities.
The playground was designed to meet accessibility standards throughout the site, ensuring that both the play equipment and surrounding amenities are welcoming and usable for individuals with disabilities. Key features include poured-in-place rubber surfacing beneath all play structures and wheelchair-accessible concrete pathways connecting the various elements of the playground.
The design also incorporates strategic landscaping to enhance the park experience by providing shade, screening playground elements, and improving the site’s overall aesthetic appeal.
Throughout the planning process, Van Cleef collaborated closely with the Borough’s Recreation Board, presenting design concepts and photo-rendered sketch overlays to clearly illustrate the proposed improvements. Stakeholder feedback was actively incorporated into the final design, resulting in a playground that reflects the community’s vision while promoting accessibility, safety, and recreation for all visitors.
