PROJECT

East Bangor Water Storage Tank Addition

Township of Upper Mounty Bethel | Northampton County, PA

Van Cleef provided grant funding, design, PADEP permitting, COSTARS procurement, construction administration, and grant reimbursement management for a new 54,000-gallon aboveground water storage tank at the East Bangor Municipal Authority’s Well No. 3 site.

The Authority had pursued this additional storage for more than 20 years to improve system reliability and support future water service. The project included a modern factory-coated bolted-steel tank, new 6-inch ductile-iron yard piping and valves, a metering pit with a Badger M2000 electromagnetic flow meter, a tank level sensor, and electrical and SCADA improvements. The upgraded controls provide tank-level monitoring, alarms, trending, flow measurement, integration of an online Chemtrac pH meter, and coordinated operation of Well Pump Nos. 3 and 4. Van Cleef obtained the required PADEP Community Public Water Supply Permit and coordinated construction while the existing water system remained in service.

Completed in 2026, the project increases operational flexibility and emergency storage and supports the Authority’s goal of lifting its water-service moratorium and accommodating responsible community growth.
